On July 31st, during our last Sunday service in Mozambique, we were attending one of the churches planted years ago by Pastor Abel Faz-Ver, our Mozambican Operations Director. This was also the church he currently leads as pastor. Jason had finished speaking, and they were taking the time to do some more corporate worship when Abel called up a young boy to the podium.
Hope of a Nation Executive Directors Jason and Susan Collmorgen returned to Mozambique in May for a visit that lasted just under 3 months. It was a productive time in which many things were accomplished.
Sunday, June 19th, was a beautiful day in Dondo, Mozambique! We were invited by our good friend, Nelson, (who is also like a son to us) to speak at the church he attends. Nelson is another young man who grew up in the orphanage of the missions base we had directed for a time in 2010.
This month we began supporting another student’s education, a young lady named Maria Naene. This has been a rough year for Maria, but God is showing her his faithfulness…
America has always been seen as this beacon of light to the developing world. Two and half years ago, our current Children’s Services Director, Tony Gonondo was scheduled to come to America with the rest of our Mozambican team. When he was denied a visa to go, he was incredibly disappointed, but what he didn’t know is that God had another plan…
When Jason was given the vision for this ministry, one of the first things God showed him in the dream was a farm complete with crops, chickens, and goats where, among other things, we could train farmers on more sustainable growing techniques that can help increase food security for their families. It’s a critical part of the overall vision for Hope of a Nation.
Thanks to our financial partners, we have begun supporting the nursing school education of another student this year, Jossias Daniel!
This past November, Director of Medical Services, Vladimir John, and Director of Children’s Services Tony Gonondo, teamed up with another Christian ministry, Chosen Children, to conduct a health education and children’s ministry outreach in a remote village outside of Chimoio.
This year’s Christmas party for the children in our children’s ministry and orphan assistance programs fed and blessed more children than ever before!
