Celebrating a Milestone of the Hatchery Project's Successful Launch

Sustainability that Fuels Ministry

Over the past year, God has steadily advanced Hope of a Nation’s hatchery project in Mozambique. What began as a step of faith toward long term sustainability has become a functioning operation that is generating income, creating opportunity, and strengthening the foundation of the ministry.

In early 2025, electricity was successfully run to the farm, marking a critical milestone. Reliable power is essential for consistent incubation, temperature control, and healthy chick development. Without it, a hatchery simply cannot operate effectively. This foundational step positioned us to move forward with confidence.

Later in the year, we were able to purchase a quality used incubator, allowing the farm to begin hatching our own chicks rather than depending entirely on outside suppliers. This was a significant shift. Producing our own chicks increases reliability, improves margins, and gives us greater control over quality and scheduling.

In late 2025, we hatched our first batch of 500 fertilized eggs. Rather than rushing them to market, the team chose to raise this first group all the way to broiler weight. This intentional decision allowed us to test feed programs, monitor health protocols, refine record keeping, and evaluate the entire process from incubation to sale. By the time those birds reached market, we had strengthened our systems and built confidence in every stage of production.

A second batch of 500 eggs followed soon after. With lessons learned and procedures in place, those chicks were sold directly to local chicken farmers. This expanded our reach beyond our own farm and strengthened relationships within the surrounding agricultural community. Local farmers now have access to healthy chicks produced nearby, reducing transportation challenges and improving reliability.

We are currently awaiting our third batch of fertilized eggs and preparing for the next incubation cycle. The hatchery has a maximum capacity of approximately 4,800 eggs at one time. Growth will continue steadily and responsibly as demand increases and infrastructure expands.

This project is about far more than poultry production. It is about stewardship, sustainability, and wise management of the resources God has entrusted to us. The hatchery is creating a dependable income stream that supports ministry work, reduces outside dependence, and equips local farmers with consistent access to quality chicks. Each successful hatch strengthens the long term stability of Hope of a Nation in Mozambique and reflects God’s faithful provision.

We are deeply grateful for those who have prayed, given, and stood with us to reach this point. What has been established is solid, and it is only the beginning.
