The heart of it

More than a farm — it's a doorway to Jesus.

The farm is fundamental to the vision of Hope of a Nation. It's not only about generating revenue or teaching farming and livestock care. Its deepest purpose is to introduce people to Jesus.

Our farm serves the community in many practical ways. It provides fresh food for families, wholesale products that local vendors can resell to earn an income, and sustainable farming training that helps others provide for themselves. It also supplies food for ministry gatherings, helps feed the orphaned children we support, and provides assistance to those in need, including widows.

In a place where subsistence farming is the foundation of daily life, a thriving, generous farm speaks a language everyone understands. As people come to learn, to work, to buy, and to be fed, they encounter something they weren't expecting: hope, dignity, and the love of Christ.

Every harvest here is the fruit of a team that shows up before the sun and stays long after it sets. They plant and weed, feed the animals, tend the hatchery, teach interns, and carry out the daily, unglamorous work that turns a patch of ground into food, income, and hope.

None of what grows here grows on its own. We're grateful for every member of this team.

Sept 2022

Bare ground, broken & planted

The land is purchased in September 2022 and immediately cleared and prepared — and by October the first crop of maize is in the ground. The first step toward a self-sustaining vision.

Year one

First crops harvested & tasted

Rice, pigeon peas, and carrots come out of the ground — the first fruit of the work, grown with sustainable methods.

Year two

Grown beyond our dreams

The farm expands rapidly and proudly hosts the ministry's 5th-anniversary celebration on-site. Electricity is brought to the land.

Now

The hatchery comes to life

An incubator is installed and hundreds of chicks are hatched and sold — proof that on-site egg production works.

Scale & aquaponics

Expand to include a layer flock to provide fertilised eggs production, and build out an aquaponics system for drought-resilient food.

What grows here

From rich soil to full harvests.

Season after season, crops and vegetables are planted, harvested, and enjoyed — alongside fruit and nut trees that are spread across the farm.

The farm is also a classroom. We train interns and small farmers in sustainable techniques so food security spreads far beyond our fields.

We're not doing it alone

Partners in the work.

The farm has grown through real partnerships — organizations that lend their expertise, their people, and their resources alongside our team. Two of them send young people to learn and train on the farm.

Government partner

Provincial Department of Agriculture

Our partnership began through their agricultural initiative, which sends young interns to our farm for three-week training sessions. What started as a training opportunity has grown into an ongoing partnership, with their team providing agricultural advice, consultation, hands-on help preparing and planting the fields, and seed for the crops.

Training partner

Young Africa

A trade school equipping young people with practical skills in agriculture and other vocational trades. Our partnership began when we rented their vacant chicken houses to launch our first broiler chicken project before building our own on the farm. Since then, the relationship has grown: they now send interns to train on our farm while providing our team with ongoing agricultural advice and consultation.

Conservation partner

Gorongosa National Park

Through this partnership, we grow chili peppers used as a natural deterrent to help keep elephants inside the park and away from surrounding communities. Our partners supply the seed, provide technical support during planting and harvest, and purchase the finished crop. The result is a project that protects both people and wildlife while generating income to support our farm and ministry. The full story is coming soon.

The next critical step

The Chicken Layer & Hatchery Project.

By producing fertilized eggs on-site, the farm completes the entire poultry life-cycle — from egg to chick to hen — ending our dependence on outside suppliers and unlocking lasting, sustainable income.

Village chiefs, public authorities, and pastors come to see what's growing — and many leave changed. Some pastors now come simply to pray — the farm has become a place of peace.

Chicken Layer Project
