We Need a New Water Pump to Replace a Failing Rented One!

Published on Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Over the past few months, we've been renting an old diesel-powered water pump to get the water from our beautiful pond to the various crop areas on the farm. That pump, unfortunately, is failing and is even leaking diesel and oil.

We really need to have a more modern pump and one that is our own (similar to the yellow one pictured above). We estimate needing $1,600 to purchase a new modern diesel-powered water pump and 200 yards of piping (to reach all areas of the farm). A new pump will also cut the irrigation time to about 1/4 the time it currently takes, and it should use 1/3 the amount of diesel compared to the old rented one. Plus, it will be much more environmentally friendly!

In addition, we have a small outbuilding on the land that we need to update so that it can be used for secure storage. We estimate needing about $300 to repair the roof and to add a secure metal door.
