An Urgent Prayer Request

By

At the heart of just about any loving parents’ prayers is the health, well-being, and safety of their children. The same holds true for the parents of the little guy pictured above. His father, Jossias Daniel, is one of our spiritual sons whom we’ve known since he was 16-years old. He was one of the orphans who lived on a missions base we had the privilege to serve on in 2010. Jossias is also one of the students we are currently helping to put through nursing school who will graduate at the end of this year.

Earlier this year, Jossias had surprised us with the news that he would be naming his soon-to-be-born first child after one of us, and on March 7th, baby Jason was born. A few days after his birth, we received news that he was ill and was hospitalized with jaundice. At that time, he underwent phototherapy to improve his condition.

More recently it became apparent to little Jason’s parents that something was very wrong. Now at almost 7-months old, the little one cannot hold his own head up. He can’t sit up on his own, and he has not begun to crawl. Jossias reached out to us a few days ago to make us aware of the situation and to request prayer and possibly medical assistance.

A local doctor there diagnosed little Jason with kernicterus and said that the jaundice left him with complications in his brain. From what we’ve read about it, it’s a result of high levels of bilirubin in the blood, and it can cause a form of cerebral palsy, hearing loss, problems with vision and teeth, and even intellectual disabilities.

The diagnosing doctor has recommended physical therapy and a special chair to help with the therapy process. We are currently assisting with this need, and we have asked Hope of a Nation’s medical director to assist in any way he can as well.

We don’t know what the long-term prognosis is for little Jason at this point, but we know that we serve a mighty God who still works miracles today. Please keep this precious baby boy in your prayers. Pray specifically for complete healing and restoration of all cognitive, visual, auditory, motor, and speech functions.

We declare full physical and intellectual restoration in Jesus name!

If you would, please take a moment now to pray for Baby Jason.
